Opening Night - whew! by Chris 06/12/2010
We did it! Yipee! Bonjour, Montreal! by Chris 06/09/2010
We're finally here! We arrived at our tech rehearsal this morning with latte and croissant in hand. Our tech, Emily, is great and made lighting suggestions that really help the flow of the piece. I saw a few familiar faces like Rob Gee and Jem Rolls. Yay! Fringe vets! Feels like coming home! I'm really looking forward to this whole adventure, but as Jem reminded me and warned Marianne the fringe is "the worst best time you'll ever have." So true. It's a roller coaster ride, but we're on it, and there's no getting off now. Last Rehearsal & Switch On Festival by Chris 06/05/2010
Our last official rehearsal was today. It's scary, but I think we're mostly ready. Just some fine tuning here and there. Last night, we had a little taste of what the tour will be like. We performed at the Switch On Festival to open a new venue in Burlington - The Off Center for the Dramatic Arts. It was really great to soak up the energy of this new, incubator black box and perform with fellow local artists. We had a 45 minute tech, shared a dressing room with everyone else in the show and were planning where to place our props an hour before we went on. Oh, it's crazy, but it forced us to make choices fast and commit. Now opening night in Montreal won't be quite as scary. That time by Chris 05/31/2010
When you're rehearsing a play, you inevitably run into THAT time. That time when you can't believe it's actually going to happen because there's sooo much more that has to be done. Like - you have to find three identical chairs to paint white, fax the rest of the stuff to the Canada Revenue Agency, email the poster to Magic Hat to print, learn your lines and love your characters. We leave in one week. It will happen, but I have no idea how. Rehearsin' by Chris 05/13/2010
We started rehearsals last week under the direction of the fabulous Kim Jordan. Everyone is doing amazing work & having fun. We should be done blocking this Sunday. The only down side is that we miss everyone who worked on the original production. I wish we could bring everyone with us! First Post! by Chris 04/19/2010
It's really starting to feel like this is going to happen! Ash LaRose took some awesome photos on Saturday, Marianne and I are starting some re-writes, and I'm checkin out vans on craigslist. Canada - here we come! |
